Indie Wire is reporting that actor Michael Boatman is replacing Duane Martin in the new Nick at Nite Comedy, Instant Mom.
The show stars Tia Mowry as a “25-year-old party girl who trades in Cosmos for carpools when she decides to marry an older man.” Boatman plays the older man, who was originally starring Martin.
Veteran stage and film actress, Sheryl Lee Ralph plays Mowry’s mother and rounding out the cast are Sydney Park, Tylen Williams and Damarr Calhoun as Boatman’s three kids.
In other casting news, R&B vixen Ashanti is joining the cast of the popular Lifetime series, Army Wives as a series regular.
The noted singer who has appeared on television and stage will play Latasha Durant, an “optimistic mother of three, sexy, fun woman who knows how to keep a husband – and how to keep him in line.”
Ashanti joins other actresses Torrey DeVitto and Elle McLemore for the show’s seventh season. Shooting begins this month.
