Grammy-award-winning songwriter, arranger and vocalist Ne-Yo (Shaffer Smith) was inducted into the Songwriters Hall Of Fame! The 43rd annual induction and awards show was held Thursday, June 14th at The New York Marriott Marquis in New York City.
Ne-Yo was honored with the Hal David Starlight Award, which is given to young songwriters. After being inducted by record producer Swizz Beatz, Ne-Yo told the crowd of nearly a thousand that he didn’t prepare a speech because he still could not believe he was standing there.
The R&B crooner was joined by fellow inductee entertainment legends such as: Kenny Rogers, Jim Steinman, Bob Seger, Don Schlitz, Gordon Lightfoot, Ben E. King, Stevie Nicks, Mike Stoller, Tom Jones, Bette Midler, Lance Freed (all pictured above).
