African fashion and its unique designers are on the rise and GenArt has taken the lead in spotlighting them.
According to EBONY.com, the NYC based organization known for showcasing new and emerging fashion talent has now set its eyes on the continent of Africa, in particular Kenya. GenArt recently sent its new global division to the East African city of Nairobi with plans that include charity, conversation and fashion scouting.
GenArt Global Director Martine Bury says, “GenArt Global aims to be the ultimate connector between cultures, visionaries, artists, philanthropists and entrepreneurs.”
Plans are already underway to donate clothes and hosts a few fashion shows featuring emerging African designers. The top designers from the shows will have a chance to present during New York Fashion Week for GenArt’s “Fresh Faces in Fashion Show.” Designers Phillip Lim and Zac Posen are just a few of the talents that have benefited from these opportunities.
