The inaugural Sundance London Film and Music Festival will be held at the iconic O2 entertainment complex and feature films from the 2012 Sundance Film Festival as well as music, panels, and parties.  Kicking off April 26th, this year’s festival will present four awards to films focusing on social justice issues in the developing world.  Two of the feature films are Street Girls by Katie Mark and Farming by actor Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje.

Katie Mark’s Street Girls documentary follows 3 prostitutes picked up from the streets of Nigeria’s capital, Abuja, and taken to the country’s first “women’s rehabilitation centre”.  The girls embark on a three month course which they must complete or face jail.  The documentary captures the struggles of this journey.  The question is…will the girls make it, end up back on the streets or locked up?

Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje’s Farming is said to be based on his life story, and is described as a true story about “a young African boy’s search for love and belonging within a brutal skinhead subculture.”

The prizes will be given at a private event during Sundance London; both Street Girls and Farming pick up the top dollar prize of $16,000.
