The funeral of mega-star, Whitney Houston was held earlier today at New Hope Baptist Church in Newark, NJ.
The invitation only service was televised on CNN and BET networks and included a who’s who of celebrity attendees including Oprah Winfrey, Mary J. Blidge, Mariah Carey, Forest Whitaker, Spike Lee, Rev. Al Sharpton and Rev. Jesse Jackson.
Stevie Wonder, Alicia Keys, Donnie McKlurkin, BeBe and CeCe Winans, Kim Burrell and R. Kelley all gave musical tributes to the “Greatest Love of All” singer who died last Saturday afternoon at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Los Angeles, CA.
Aretha Franklin, whom Whitney affectionately referred to as “Aunt ReRe” was also scheduled to perform at the service but cancelled this morning due to “terrible leg spasms and locked leg muscles.”
Rounding out the list of celebrity tributes were Tyler Perry, Bishop T.D. Jakes, Clive Davis and Kevin Costner, who co-starred with Houston in the hugely popular film, “The Bodyguard.”
