Lifetime has released another sneak peek of actress YaYa Dacosta as superstar Whitney Houston in the upcoming biopic, “Whitney.” The one-minute clip features her performing Houston’s classic hit record, “I Will Always Love You” with the help of vocalist extraordinaire, Deborah Cox.
As previously reported, Cox is providing all of the vocals for the film since producers were unable to use Houston’s real voice. “Whitney” follows Houston and Bobby Brown’s relationship which began at the height of her musical and film career. It will examine their very public courtship, their lavish wedding and their roller coaster of a marriage which resulted in divorce in 2007. Sadly, Houston passed away in 2012.
Starring alongside DaCosta is Arlen Escarpeta as Bobby Brown; “Treme” actress Yolonda Ross as Houston’s long time personal assistant, Robyn Crawford; stage actress Suzzanne Douglas as Cissy Houston and soap star Cornelius Smith Jr. as Houston’s eldest brother, Michael.
The film is being directed by Houston’s Exhale co-star Angela Bassett.
