Somewhere Madea Tyler Perry is doing the hallelujah dance. His original drama The Haves and the Have Nots has set a record this week on Oprah Winfrey’s OWN Network.
According to Variety, the Tuesday night show drew a series’ best with 1.87 million viewers. Only three of Winfrey’s Next Chapters have rated higher than the Perry-produced show. The three interviews include Winfrey’s exclusives with Bobby Kristina (3.5 million), Lance Armstrong (3.17 million for its first part) and Rihanna with 2.5 million.
What? Beyoncé’s sit down wasn’t amongst the top three…ummm hmmm…
The ‘Haves” also ranks high amongst adults age 18-49 who watch TV on Tuesday nights with a (0.61 rating) and amongst the network’s target demographic of women age 25-54 with a (1.2 rating). With numbers like these, it’s no wonder OWN has doubled its original order of the series from 16 to 32 episodes. The current slate of programs will continue until September 3.
Congrats once again to Tyler and Oprah for a job well done!
