Michael B. Jordan shows off his game face in a brand new photo for his upcoming movie, Creed. The Fruitvale Station star will play Adonis Creed, the son of Rocky Balboa’s late rival and friend, Apollo Creed.
As previously reported, Adonis Creed is raised in an upper-crust home thanks to the ring riches earned by his father. The young man doesn’t have to box and his family doesn’t want him to. Yet, he has the natural instinct and gifts and potential that made his father a champion until Balboa took his crown in 1979′s Rocky II. Creed needs a mentor and turns to Balboa (played by Sylvester Stallone), who is out of boxing completely and not eager to return.
The film will also star Phylicia Rashad as Mary Ann Creed, Tessa Thompson as Bianca (I’m assuming she is Adonis’ love interest) and professional boxers Tony Bellew and Andre Ward. Creed is directed by Fruitvale Station’s Ryan Coogler on opens in theaters Nov. 25.
