“We want to thank you all for joining us for the very last Harris Family baby shower,” T.I. said jokingly to the roomful of well-wishers. “And for those of you who missed the first four, five, however many there were, I promise you this will be the last one and we’re going out with a bang.”

‘Blackout Gala’ honors Rasheeda, Kirk Frost & DJ Nabs [PHOTOS]

Written by | Ray Cornelius

“Love and Hip Hop Atlanta” stars Rasheeda and Kirk Frost were saluted Friday night at the 2016 Live and Die for Hip Hop Blackout Gala. The private event took place at the new Gallery 874 in the West Midtown district of Atlanta and was presented by Leigh Wise. This year’s theme was “Hip Hop is Art” and recognized entertainers who used hip hop as a creative outlet to express their truths and to educate future generations.

Rasheeda and Kirk Frost

Wise created the event in 2014 in memory of her first cousin and rap icon Chris Kelly (Kris Kross), who died in 2013. The event was also a fundraiser for Atlanta’s famed Tri-Cities High School Performance Arts Program and featured the stunning, original art work of former LaFace Records Art Director—DL Warfield.

Also picking up an award was Atlanta favorite—DJ Nabs. He was Jermaine Dupri‘s exclusive DJ who backed up many of So So Def’s artists like Kriss Kross, Da Brat, Xscape, and Bow Wow. He also joined Kelly on Michael Jackson‘s  historic 1992 Dangerous World Tour and has worked with other major music stars such as Mariah Carey, Ludacris, and Ciara. His influence in helping to establish southern hip hop was chronicled in the 2014 Vh1 Rock Doc: ATL: The Untold Story of Atlanta’s Rise in the Rap Game.

“Live and Die” was hosted once again by reality star and celebrity stylist Dwight Eubanks and was attended by Kelly’s mother Donna Kelly-Pratte, his aunt and uncle Robert and Delani Barber, and former Atlanta Falcon star Bob Whitfield. It was also attended by a number of Kelly’s friends as well as a host of hip hop and art enthusiasts.

LHHATL’s Benzino hosts party for fiancée & new castmember Althea ‘Thi Thi’ Heart (PHOTOS)

Posted by | Ray Cornelius

Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta  star, Benzino hosted his Hip Hop Weekly issue release and introduced his fiancée and budding music artist Althea “Thi Thi” Heart at Bar One in Atlanta, Georgia last night to an intimate hand-selected crowd.

Making the occasion even more special, it was Thi Thi’s birthday!

As the Birthday Cake Wines flowed, family, friends and event sponsors, including PoleBlvd.Com, poured in to join the festivities. Among the crowd was LHHATL couple Rasheeda and Kirk as well as Benzino’s father and Thi Thi’s mother.  Stevie J’s dad even made an appearance.  With the help of celebrity jeweler Lucky of the Atlanta-based Lucky Diamonds & Co., Benzino surprised the birthday girl with a pair of diamond earrings to complement the huge engagement ring that everyone finally got a peek at last night. Yet, Althea wasn’t the only one receiving gifts.  Benzino gave the crowd an exclusive listen to Thi Thi’s new music, including her new single, “Ghetto Love” featuring Benzino.  The song received rave reviews and – telling from the couple’s chemistry – they’re sure to be the breakout star couple of this season’s Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta.

“It’s a beautiful thing to celebrate the love of my life. She’s my ride or die! She’s held me down, especially during my recovery. I’m more than happy to return the favor,”  shared Zino.

Althea is a New York native who has had a passion for entertainment from an early age.  Her musical skills have allowed her to work with such notables as legendary hip-hop emcee Foxy Brown and music executive Kevin Liles.  After a brief hiatus, she is excited to return to music by dropping her new single, “Ghetto Love” produced by the prolific Chucky Thompson, the man behind hits for Usher, Faith Evans, Mary J Blige, Nas, Ledisi and more.

I’s married now!

Despite all of the drama we’ve watched her endure from her Mama Joyce, RHOA starlet Kandi Burruss has finally jumped the broom with her fiancé Todd Tucker.

Yes folks!  Kandi is officially a Real  Housewife of Atlanta.

According to the AJC and Straight from The A, the two love birds tied the knot at LeFais Do Do in West Midtown, Atlanta.  The very private affair was taped by Bravo for an upcoming series and was attended by RHOA cast mates Porsha Williams, Phaedra Parks and Cynthia Bailey. Burruss’ bridemaid bridesmaids included R&B vocalist Fantasia, Love and Hip Hop Atlanta’s Rasheeda, and fellow Xscape member, Tameka “Tiny” Cottle Harris.  Her dress was created by Atlanta-based designer Reco Chapple.

A bevy of notables were also in attendance including Fashion Queens Derek J and Miss Lawrence, Keshia Knight Pulliam and Big Tigger, Musiq SoulChild, Tamar Braxton and Vince Herbert, Shekinah Jo, Toya Wright, Stevie J, Benzino, Sheree Whitfield, Monyetta Shaw, Sherri Shephard and Jawn Murray.

RC attends GARB Shoetique One Year Anniversary (PHOTOS)

Written by | Ray Cornelius

Reality-starlet Toya Wright and her business partner Danielle Cardiche-Johnson celebrated the one year anniversary of their GARB Shoetique this weekend in Atlanta. The event was attended by many of the store’s shoppers as well as some of Wright’s celebrity friends including RHOA Kandi Burruss and Love and Hip-Hop Atlanta’s  Rasheeda. Also spotted were Kandi’s best friend and assistant, Carmen along with celebrity bloggers The Funky Dineva, Straight from the A and Talking with Tami.

GARB Shoetique is just one of two fashion related businesses for the 30-year-old, who also owns a GARB Clothing Boutique in New Orleans. Wright says that business is doing so well for the Atlanta location that she is thinking about expanding the brand to either Houston or Miami.

“Since we’ve opened the doors to this store, we have received a lot of love from the Atlanta-Smyrna community. We have developed a thriving online fan base and are just overwhelmed by all of the people who have supported us. Every time we get new merchandise, its sells out. So it’s really been a blessing…I’m really thinking about expanding to another city…maybe Houston or Miami.”

In addition, Wright says she is also planning to develop an exclusive clothing line for her GARB Boutique. This will allow her to  carry her own merchandise instead of buying from vendors and plans to debut it in February 2014.

Wright also indicated that she may be returning to reality TV with an emphasis on her daughter, Reginae. She also says that she prepping to write a follow up to her NYT Best-Seller, “Priceless Inspiration.” The untitled project will be published under a new company, Simon and Schuster and will focus on her growth as a mother, wife and business woman.

“This new book is going to show my growth. I am not in the same place when I wrote Priceless Inspirations, which focused more on my childhood and finding  Toya. This time it’s about being a mother, wife, and entrepreneur. It’s also about my failures, dissolved friendships and the many lessons I learned from launching my businesses. I hope to debut the book next summer, says Wright.”
