OXYGEN hosts ATL Preview Party for ‘Preachers of Atlanta’ [PHOTOS]

I had the pleasure of attending a sneak peek of Oxygen’s new docu-series “Preachers of Atlanta” Thursday night at the 595 North Avenue Venue in Midtown. The private affair was hosted by Praise 102.5 media personality Willie Moore Jr. and featured the show’s stars—Pastor Corey Hambrick, Pastor Le’Andria Johnson, Pastor Canton Jones, Pastor Kimberly Jones-Pothier, and Pastor Judah Swilley.

The one-hour program, which is a companion to the network’s hugely popular “Preachers of L.A.” and “Preachers of Detroit,” follows five men and women of the cloth and their radical approaches to ministry.  After red carpet photos, each member was introduced to the audience along with 2-minute snippets from the show. Pastor Johnson followed up with a soul stirring performance to “set the atmosphere” and Willie Moore Jr. led them in a brief Q&A session discussing why they decided to participate in the show.

“I think that all of us have been tested and proven by God,” said Pastor Kimberly Jones-Pothier.  “I know that God trusts me. I also think that we’re going outside the doors and we’re loving people back to life and letting everyone know that God is a God of grace and mercy.  See, when God’s mercy meets your mess he turns everything around! What we’re bringing to the table are real authentic pastors who really, really, really, really, really love people.”

Following the Q&A session was another musical selection featuring Pastors Canton Jones and  Judah Swilley. Jones was later joined by his group of hip hop dancers for a  performance of his single, “I Can’t Help It” which comes from the CD, I Am Justice.  “Preachers of Atlanta” premieres next February 3 at 10 p.m. EST on Oxygen.

Check out the brand new trailer for Oxygen’s Preachers of Atlanta. The one-hour reality series, which is a companion to the network’s hugely popular Preachers of L.A. and Preachers of Detroit, follows five men and women of the cloth and their radical approaches to ministry.

“‘Preachers of Atlanta’ features a young, vibrant group of pastors who are pushing the envelope and tackling real-world issues in their communities, creating thought-provoking dialogue,” said Rod Aissa, Executive Vice President of Original Programming and Development, Oxygen Media. “The series showcases a new generation of preachers who, through their nontraditional approaches, are unapologetic in their ministry and unafraid to break down boundaries in an effort to drive positive change.”

The five preachers challenging the status quo are Pastor Corey Hambrick, Pastor Le’Andria Johnson, Pastor Canton Jones, Pastor Kimberly Jones-Pothier, and Pastor Judah Swilley.

Bravo, Oxygen and Esquire networks recently unveiled 23 new shows for the year that include some familiar faces and some not so familiar faces. Here are a few new entries that caught out attention…

RHOA stars and BFFs, NeNe Leakes and Kim Zolciak Biermann are starring in a new “Thelma and Louise” type of reality series for Bravo titled, “NeNe and Kim: The Road to Riches. The show is being described as one-of-a-kind adventure as the ladies trek across America to Los Angeles. Leakes and Zolciah Biermann will also serve as executive producers for the series.

Next up is “The Hustle,” which will debut on Oxygen. The new series is produced by Nick Cannon’s NCredible Entertainment and is being described as a coming-of-age series about hard-working assistants who struggle with balancing their personal and professional lives while assisting successful entrepreneurs and entertainers.

Get ready…Get ready…Get ready! “Preachers of Atlanta” is coming to Oxygen. This is the third installment to the popular reality series and like the others it will follow young, mega-church preachers and pastors as they try to balance life at home with life in the pulpit.

Lastly is “Comedians of L.A.” featuring Brandon T. Jackson. This show is being described as a first of its kind partnership between Oxygen and Esquire and will focus on rising Hollywood comedians as they try to take their careers to the next level. Their will also be a companion series, titled “Living With Funny,” that will look at the personal lives of the stars and their relationships. Both shows will air during the same period on each network.
