WATCH New Extended Trailer for OWN’s ‘Greenleaf’ (VIDEO)

Posted by  | Ray Cornelius

Family secrets, adultery, mayhem and more are revealed in a brand new extended trailer for Oprah Winfrey‘s highly anticipated mega-church drama “Greenleaf.”  The new one-hour series, which debuts next month, features Winfrey as well as Lynn Whitfield, Keith David, Lamman Rucker, Deborah Joy WinansMerle Dandridge, Kim Hawthorne, Tye White and more.

As previously reported, “Greenleaf” centers on the journey of estranged daughter and disillusioned preacher Grace Greenleaf (Merle Dandridge) who has returned home after 20 years on the occasion of the mysterious death of her sister, Faith. As she reenters the world of Calvary Fellowship World Ministries, the Memphis megachurch run by her powerful parents Bishop James Greenleaf (Keith David) and Lady Mae Greenleaf (Lynn Whitfield), it becomes evident that things are not as virtuous as they seem and that the family’s outward display of faith hides sin and misdeeds.

“Greenleaf” premieres two-nights: Tuesday, June 21 at 10 p.m. ET/PT and Wednesday, June 22 at 10 p.m. ET/PT on OWN. The series will regularly air on Wednesdays at 10 p.m. ET/PT for the remainder of its 13-episode first season. “Greenleaf” is produced for OWN by Lionsgate Television.

Will Packer is teaming up with NBC for a new ATL based drama, ‘BUCKHEAD’

Posted by | Ray Cornelius

Deadline is reporting that Straight Outta Compton  executive producer, Will “Power” Packer is bringing a new Atlanta-based drama to NBC titled, Buckhead.  The project is being described as an hour-long series about ambition, sex and revenge set in the extravagant, high stakes world of Atlanta politics, entertainment, churches and strip clubs. Buckhead  is written and executive by  David McMillian and co-executive produced by Packer and Kory Huggins.

Packer has been rather busy over the last few months. He already has another series on NBC titled, People Are Talking  featuring my girl, Bresha Webb and the TV remake of Uncle Buck for ABC starring Mike Epps. He is also releasing a sequel to Ride Along  next year with Kevin Hart and is currently working on a remake of the 70’s saga, Roots with the mini-series’ original star, LeVar Burton.

#REALTALK Buckhead  reminds me of a television pilot I was apart of when I first moved to Atlanta in 1998. The show was titled, The Cascades and was based on the affluent African-American neighborhood of the same name. The area is known for its million dollar homes, flashy cars and over-the-top socialites. My character’s name was Travis and I was the son of an business tycoon who was first in line to inherit his dad’s fortune. While the show never materialized, I met some incredible people and got a better understanding of Atlanta and the inner circles who really run the city. I am so looking forward to seeing how this new project turns out.
