British-soul group, Incognito brought their North American tour to Atlanta’s Center Stage this past weekend for two sold-out performances. The eclectic group of vocalists and musicians performed a number of their classics as well as a few news songs from their latest CD, “Surreal.”
The evening started with show opener, guitarist Khari Cabral who got the crowd moving with soulful Latin selections taken from his latest CD, “Clementine Sun.” His hour-long set featured amazing vocals from lead singers, Chantae Cann and Chanda Leigh as well as a few special guest appearances by trumpeter Russell Gunn, President Obama’s favorite male vocalist Anthony David, and Grammy Award-winning vocalist India.Arie, whose rendition of Stevie Wonder’s “Never in Your Sun” had the audience wanting more.
After a very brief intermission, Incognito took to the stage with a few new and familiar faces. Led by the guitarist, Jean-Paul ‘Bluey’ Maunick, the British-Soul music pioneers sang and danced their way through nearly 31 years of music featuring new vocalists Mo Brandis, Vanessa Haynes, Natalie Williams and of course the “voice” of Incognito and long time lead singer, Maysa Leak.
