Original “Dreamgirl” and Instant Mom  star, Sheryl Lee Ralph is joining forces with Atlanta based AID Atlanta to launch the 25th anniversary of the AIDS Walk. The partnership is also in collaboration with the 25th anniversary of the D.I.V.A. Foundation, an internationally renowned organization created by Ralph in 1990 in memory to the many friends she lost to HIV/AIDS.

The festivities begin this weekend in connection to National HIV Testing Day (Saturday, June 27th), encouraging individuals to get tested and know their status.  Over the course of the weekend, Ralph will engage in a series of events, using her voice to bring awareness to the immense need for wellness of mind, body and spirit and to erase stigma and educate communities about STD’s including HIV/AIDS, Hep C and other life threatening diseases.

Ralph will return in mid-October to participate in the 25th Anniversary AIDS Walk, speak at Georgia Gwinnett College as a part of their international speakers series, as well as perform her impactful one-woman show, “Sometimes I Cry”, which explores the lives, loves, and losses of women infected and affected by HIV/AIDS.  Her week of events in the south, will precede the 25th Anniversary production of DIVA’s Simply Singing!, which will take place on October 24 at the Ricardo Montalban Theater in Los Angeles, CA.
