Check out the trailer for Lifetime’s upcoming movie “Showing Roots” starring “Orange is the New Black” actress Uzo Aduba and Tony winning-actress and living legend Cicely Tyson.
‘Showing Roots’ takes place in 1977 during the premiere of the miniseries Roots. Set in a small southern town where there definitely are still ‘right’ and ‘wrong’ sides of the tracks, two young women – one white, one black – forge an unlikely friendship that sparks a journey of independence, self-discovery, and ultimately results in the discovery of the perfect hairdo.
The project also stars Maggie Grace, Elizabeth McGovern, Adam Brody and was filmed in Louisiana. “Showing Roots” is written and produced by Susan Batten and has won awards at the Bahamas Film Festival and Maryland International Film Fest.
“Showing Roots” will air on Thursday, May 26 at 10 p.m. EST
