The cast of Get On Up and other celebrities received an exclusive look at Universal’s GET ON UP tour experience at the Metropolitan Pavilion this past weekend at the American Black Film Festival in New York City. Celebrities in attendance participated in the tour by giving their own impersonation of the God Father of Soul and signing a vinyl record wall where they left impactful notes on how James Brown influenced their life.
Spotted at the event were Get On Up castmates Chadwick Boseman (42, Draft Day), Tika Sumpter (Ride Along), Nelsan Ellis (True Blood) and Director Tate Taylor (The Help) as well as Actress Niecy Nash (TV Land’s Soul Man with Cedric The Entertainer), DJ D Nice (celebrity DJ), Morris Chestnut (The Best Man Holiday) and Jeff Friday (Founder of ABFF) along with his wife Nicole Friday.
As previously reported, the GET ON UP tour will travel to New Orleans for Essence Fest’s 20 Year Anniversary on July 3-6, before returning to New York City on July 18.
