Instead of watching your local news tonight, tune into BET for “Don’t Sleep.”
The late-night news series focusing on current events affecting the black community is hosted by former CNN correspondent T.J. Holmes. The show blends social commentary, humor and entertainment and marks his first gig since leaving CNN in December 2011. Holmes was the morning weekend anchor for five years at CNN but saw the opportunity at BET as one he couldn’t pass up.
“I could have stayed at CNN. I had the opportunity to do so,” he added. “This wasn’t about me looking for a job. I chose BET for a reason, for the opportunity that I did not have at CNN just because [they have] a different type of audience. I don’t know when this opportunity would come along again, so I couldn’t pass it up.”
Don’t Sleep! airs tonight at 11 p.m. ET/PT on BET.
