TV One’s #1 series “UNSUNG” is back for an 11th season and will premiere this summer on its new night beginning Sunday July 9th. According to the show’s press release, the award-winning program will kick off with Fugees member and iconic hip hop star Wyclef at 9 p.m. followed by the story of Jagged Edge at 10 p.m. Additional episodes will feature gospel music superstar Marvin Sapp, 70s R&B supergroups Switch and The Dramatics, R&B sweetheart Shanice and pioneering gangsta rapper turned actor Ice T.
“UNSUNG” tells the stories of perseverance, determination and success through first-hand accounts of the artists who experienced it and takes viewers into the lesser-known challenges they endured behind the spotlight.
“From Classic R&B to Hip Hop and Gospel, Unsung is known for offering music lovers an in-depth behind-the-scenes view into the lives of their favorite performers as heard from the artists themselves and the friends and family who know them best,” says TV One President Brad Siegel. “We are moving the series to Sunday nights to allow more of our viewers a chance to wind down their summer weekends with an evening of inspiring music to take you down memory lane. This is an exciting line-up of fascinating entertainers that you won’t want to miss.”
Last season, “UNSUNG” reached 3.2 million unique viewers 2+ and during its timeslot, the show was a Top 3 program in Ad Supported Cable among African American viewers 2+. Through first-hand accounts, interviews with family and friends, and archival footage, each episode of TV One’s signature series weaves a tale of the highs and lows of a life in the limelight. The poignant stories of Unsung offer insight into the trials and triumphs faced in both private and public forums.
