Check out this past weekend’s edition of UPFRONT! It featured stage and television actress Denise Burse talking about her role in the True Colors Theatre production of DOT. The star of Black Mirror and Tyler Perry’s House of Payne opened up about how her real life experiences prepared her for the role and more.
Singer-songwriter and the reigning “Queen of Underground Soul” Sy Smith chopped it up about music from her new album Sometimes a Rose Will Grow In Concrete. She also talked about working with the late Whitney Houston and performing for her Howard University sisters – Debbie Allen and Phylicia Rashad.
Closing out the show was young filmmaker Armondi Stokes-Hicks. He stopped by to chat about his new film, You Can’t Save Everyone. I also featured some amazing tunes from Sy Smith along with jazz greats Shirley Horn and Tony Bennett.
