Check out the new film poster for Taraji P. Henson‘s upcoming drama, “Proud Mary.” Its vibrant hues and striking character pose is a throwback to the movie posters of the 70s Blaxploitation film era which featured such fierce and fabulous icons like Pam Grier‘s Foxy Brown and Tamara Dobson‘s Cleopatra Jones.
As previously reported, “Proud Mary” stars Henson as a hit woman whose life is turned completely around when she meets a young boy who awakens in her a maternal instinct she never knew she had. According to S&A, Henson is joined on screen by film legends Danny Glover and Margaret Avery + “How to Get Away with Murder” hunk Billy Brown, Neal McDonough, Xander Berkeley and “The New Edition Story” star Jahi Di’Allo Winston.
The film is directed by Babak Najafi with a script penned by John Stuart Newman and Christian Swegal. Henson also serves as one of the film’s executive producers. A trailer will also be available for your viewing pleasure later on this week.
Up next for Henson is the civil right drama “Best of Enemies” and “Richard Pryor: Is It Something I Said” with Mike Epps, Eddie Murphy and Oprah Winfrey. She is also teaming up with Tyler Perry again for “She’s Living My Life.” The project was previously titled “Acrimony” and also stars Tika Sumpter, Lyriq Bent, Danielle Nicolet and Kendrick Cross.
