Grammy winning singer, songwriter and actress Mary J. Blige is returning to the big screen in 2017 for the new drama “Mudbound.” It comes from “Bessie” diretor Dee Rees and will make its premiere during January’s Sundance Film Festival.
According to S&A, the film follows two families who are pitted against a barbaric social hierarchy and an unrelenting landscape as they simultaneously fight the battle at home and the battle abroad. This epic pioneer story is about friendship, heritage and the unending struggle for and against the land.
The film also stars Carey Mulligan, Jason Mitchell, Rob Morgan, Jason Clarke, Garrett Hedlund and Jonathan Banks.
