Atlanta-based Impact Magazine hosted an intimate afternoon of “Cocktails and Conversations” on Sunday at the swanky A Loft Hotel in Midtown. The event, which featured the hot sounds of DJ Naturel, was hosted by the magazine’s editor, Tunisha Brown and was attended by a number of Atlanta tastemakers and influencers.

The three-hour event included a fashion showcase of spring and summer collections from emerging fashion designers Ms. Ife, Karma Soul, and Courtney Samone. Other special guest speakers included Layla k., Founder of Madison+HARLOW PR and Haute.lanta Fashion Week®and the artist known as The Husel.

For many in attendance, they were shocked to find out that The Husel is really Musiq SoulChild, who has reinvented himself as a new hip-hop star. According to the artist, he had to create another persona to support his current music frequency which he refers to as urban new age. While he has not abandoned the Musiq SoulChild “brand” he is exploring other musical genres and would prefer to keep them separate.

Look for The Husel to release new music before the month is out as well as the full album in May. I will also post a more exclusive interview with him in the weeks to come. In the meantime, check out photos from yesterday’s event and music from The Husel below:
