ESSENCE is getting a some assistance tonight from media maven Oprah Winfrey. The star of “Selma” is airing the magazine’s highly anticipated Black Women in Hollywood Awards Luncheon that took on Thursday, February 19 at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel in L.A.
As previously reported, this year’s recipients include acclaimed actress and director, Regina King; famed costume designer, Ruth E. Carter; “Beyond the Lights” actress, Gugu Mbatha-Raw; and stars from the popular series, “Orange is the New Black” – Adrienne C. Moore, Danielle Brooks, Laverne Cox, Lorraine Toussaint, Samira Wiley, Vicky Jeudy and Uzo Aduba.
A number of A-List stars attended including Ava DuVernay, Kelly Rowland, Tracee Ellis Ross, Niecy Nash, Lupita Nyong’o and many more. Take a look at Tracy Edmonds as she chats with Winfrey about why she decided to air the special event on her network:
