Multi-talented singer, actress and DJ, Solange Knowles appears on the cover of the latest Lucky Magazine. Inside, she talks exclusively about her music career, the evolution of her personal style and her beloved childhood idols. She also opens up—for the last time—about the now infamous elevator brawl with her brother-in-law Jay Z the night of the Met Ball.
It was the TMZ video seen around the world that showed a furious Knowles finger pointing and kicking at her sister’s husband on the elevator at the Standard Hotel. You know, that “WTF” moment that many of her fans and Beygency members never saw coming. However, for the 28-year-old and her famous sibling, they have all but put ‘that thing’ behind them and have moved on as a family unit.
“What’s important is that my family and I are all good,” she says. “What we had to say collectively was in the statement that we put out, and we all feel at peace with that.”
Knowles, who recently moved from the Big Apple to the Bayou, also says she is passing those same values of unconditional love and support along to her son, Julez.
“We’ve always held each other down no matter what,” she says. “That’s something I’m drilling into Julez now.”
