Indie Wire is reporting that Treme actress Yolonda Ross has been added to the Lifetime biopic about Whitney Houston. Ross will play the pop singer’s longtime sister-friend and rumored lesbian lover, Robyn Crawford.
For years it has been said that Crawford and Houston were romantically linked even though both ladies denied the accusations. Last year, Houston’s mother Cissy told Oprah Winfrey that while she would have never approved of her daughter being gay, she really didn’t know if there was anything more to their close bond than true friendship.
Crawford served as Houston’s personal assistant for many years before her marriage to Brown.
As previously reported, the film will take a closer look at Houston’s marriage to the original bad boy of R&B and stars actress and model, Yaya DaCosta in the title role. The film is also the directorial debut of Houston’s friend and Exhale co-star Angela Bassett. Although, it was said that the film is being protested by the Houston family, things seem to be moving quite along. Bassett recently tweeted that she had found her Bobby Brown actor.
Ooh, the plot thickens…STAY TUNED!
