The Independent is reporting the first footage of André 3000 as Jimi Hendrix has emerged on YouTube! It is not a trailer but a one-minute clip from All Is By My Side seeing the legendary guitarist being discovered by Imogen Poot as Linda Keith.
Filmmakers have been trying to bring Hendrix to the big screen for years, with Oscar-winning 12 Years A Slave screenwriter John Ridley finally succeeding where Paul Greengrass and the Hughes brothers failed.
Unfortunately the Hendrix estate didn’t give its support to the film, which therefore faces the considerable setback of not being able to use any of his music, focusing more on sex and drugs than rock ‘n’ roll.
This first look shows Hendrix having a heart-to-heart with Linda Keith, discussing how both Jimi and Keith Richards had written songs for her ~ take a look:
All Is By My Side does not yet have a release date, but will make its debut at SXSW on 12 March.
