Essence Music Festival performer Maxwell has released a teaser of his new single, “Gods.” The track is from the highly-anticipated blackSUMMER’Snight album which is the follow-up to his first album in the trilogy, BLACKsummer’snight. “Gods” was written by Maxwell and produced by Hod David and is expected to debut at the end of the summer.

In addition to releasing the snippet, Maxwell is also gearing up for a new duets EP with Alicia Keys. It’s a new project that he admits was inspired by Keys’ husband, Swizz Beatz:
“We’re definitely working on an EP that’s sort of Marvin Gaye/Tammi Terrrell. We got a thing musically. That’s like my little sister. What’s funny is Swizz [Beatz, Keys’ husband] is the champion of all of it. He’s like, “You guys have a thing when you make music together. We had a really successful tour together when she first came on the scene and she’s like family. She’s someone that I trust.”
