NBA player and part-time fashion maven Dwayne Wade is gearing up to release a brand of shoes and apparel with Chinese company Li-Ning.
According to BET, Wade will have creative input on everything from design to endorsers for his newly revamped Wade brand.
“It was a great nine years, but for me, it was just time to move on,” Wade told the AP about his time with the Jordan brand. “I have certain goals that I want to reach and I felt that I had to leave to reach those. So I’m doing things a little differently. That’s how I am, in a sense. I’m not necessarily a status-quo type guy.”
The shoes are expected to ready by the time the first whistle blows on October 30 at the Miami Heat season opener. Shoes and apparel will be available in the US next year.
