There have been talks about a possible third installment of the Bad Boys franchise for three years now!
In August 2009, THR reported Peter Craig was working on a screenplay for Bad Boys 3. In a 2010 interview with MTV News producer Jerry Bruckheimer revealed, “Will Smith came up with a terrific idea for a screenplay, and we’ve been working on a script, so we’ll keep our fingers crossed.” Martin Lawrence shared, “We’re just waiting on Jerry Bruckheimer to let us know when it’s really real.” Lawrence also said director Michael Bay is onboard too “so it’s real.”
Fast forward to the present…while promoting MIB3 on BET’s 106 & Park and at red carpet premieres, Will Smith was asked if there’d be a Bad Boys 3. “I talked to Martin about that a couple of weeks ago,” he said. “Martin is into it and we got a couple of screenplays and the story’s gotta be right.”
There you have it; all the key players are onboard!
