New York City was “dancing in the streets” last night as entertainment’s biggest stars attended the opening of Berry Gordy’s new splashy production “Motown: The Musical.” All eyes were on the Great White Way as music veterans like Diana Ross, Stevie Wonder, Gladys Knight, Smokey Robinson, Mary Wilson, Sting and Bono made their way into the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre. Also spotted on the red carpet were Jane Fonda, Spike Lee, Debbie Allen, Mary Hart, Kathy Lee Gifford, Melba Moore, and the Rev. Jennifer Hudson sings “Somewhere”
American Idol alums Jennifer Hudson and Jordin Sparks performed during The Power of Love Gala: Quincy Jones and Sir Michael Caine’s 80th Birthday Celebration. The event took place in Las Vegas on Saturday night and was a fundraiser for The Cleveland Clinic Lou Ruvo Center for Brain Health. Also in attendance were Bebe Winans, Bono, Chaka Khan, Chris Tucker, Herbie Hancock, Patti Austin, Snoop Lion, Stevie Wonder and will.i.am. The LOGO network held its annual New Now Next Awards at the W Hollywood on Saturday night. The event honored Fergie with the Always Next, Forever Now Award as well as Kylie Minogue, who picked up the Dance Floor Hero Award. The evening was hosted by comedic actress Aisha Tyler and was attended by Tamar Braxton (channeling her best Grace Jones), Ciara, Azealia Banks and LOGO’s brightest star RuPaul.
