Actress, writer, director, producer and content creator Issa Rae teamed up with HBO and EBONY Friday afternoon for a special advanced screening of her popular new series “Insecure.”  The event took place during Spelman College’s 3rd Annual Arts & Entertainment Summit at The Camille Olivia Hanks Cosby Ed.D. Academic Center. The two-day summit is designed to inform students of the various non-performing opportunities in film, television, music and more.

“Insecure” is a 30-minute comedy that airs on Sunday evenings at 10:30 p.m. and focuses on “awkward experiences and racy tribulations of a modern day African-American woman living in Los Angeles.” It is loosely-based on Rae’s hugely popular web series, “The Misadventures of an Awkward Black Girl” and stars Yvonne Orji, Jay Ellis, Lisa Joyce, Neil Brown Jr. and Sujata Day.

The auditorium was packed with a number of “Spelmanites” as well as die-hard-Issa Rae fans. Following the screening was a brief Q&A session led by EBONY‘s  Lifestyle and Entertainment Director  S. Tia Brown. Check out a few more photos below + plus a sneak peek of episode 4 which features guest appearances by hip hop stars Jidenna and Ty Dolla $ign:
