“Barbershop: The Next Cut” stars Common and Ice Cube are teaming up with VH1 for a new Town Hall Special in Chicago. The program is titled “Behind The Movie: ‘Exploring Chicago with the Cast of Barbershop: The Next Cut’ and premieres next Monday April 11 at 10 p.m. EST.
According to the event’s press release, the program is set at a local college and addresses a variety of issues that young people are facing across the country including relationships, artistic expression, gun violence, and community activism. It also explores the role barbershops play in providing many of these teens a safe haven for open dialogue as well as mentorship. VH1’s newest personality Sway, will serve as the show’s moderator.
“It is important to me that ‘Barbershop’ does more than entertain,” said the film’s star and producer Ice Cube. “Along with comedy, the story touches on relationships and gang violence. This partnership with VH1 is the perfect way to expand this conversation.”
