Multi-Grammy winning singer-songwriter, Kandi Burruss is going back to her musical roots by producing two new acts that are sure to have everyone talking. The RHOA star officially introduced them Thursday night to a select group of Atlanta influencers (including yours truly) during a private dinner and open house at her Atlanta-based entertainment compound, The Kandi Factory.

Burruss, who is an original member of the 90’s girl group, Xscape, says she wants to bring back that “era” with the singing trio, Glamour as well as add some kick to the industry with her multi-cultural quartet LOUD (think The Black Eye Peas). The beloved reality star, who has built an entertainment conglomerate over the last few years, felt that she had neglected her passion for music and was inspired to get back in the game after attending last year’s ASCAP Dinner honoring L.A. Reid. It was during that event and being around so many industry peers like Big Boi, Usher and Babyface, that prompted her to get back in the studio.

Kandi was first introduced to the teenage singers through one of her producers, Brandin Jay, who discovered them through Natarsha Garcia‘s AGI Entertainment. The Atlanta-based company is known for grooming young talent through its Extreme Performing Arts Camp. Burruss says she immediately signed them after seeing a few performances. LOUD consist of Timothee Alex, Katimarie, Kiersten and Turner. Glamour includes Moriah, Kaylan and Lady and are described as “TLC meets The Spice Girls.” The group has also appeared on XFactor and was described by American Idol winner, Fantasia as “amazing SANGERS!”

In addition to the meet and greet, we also had an opportunity to see the group’s perform and talk candidly to Burruss and her husband Todd Tucker about their other new ventures. The couple, affectionately known simply as The Tuckers, revealed they are working on another reality special with Bravo and are opening an Atlanta-based restaurant in the city’s Castleberry Hill District. Burruss described it as high-end Southern Cuisine and says the menu is based on her family’s recipes.
She also revealed that she is an executive producer on Demetria McKinney‘s forthcoming album and would love to collaborate with Rihanna and Adele. The couple also announced that they were working on a movie, a scripted series and are also looking to produce more plays. Look for Kandi’s new groups, LOUD and Glamour to make guest appearances on this season of the Real Housewives of Atlanta.
