ESSENCE is reporting that BET’s #1 female empowerment special for African-American, Black Girls Rock is returning for its fourth year in a row on Sunday, November 3 at 7 p.m. EST. The network announced the news earlier today and confirmed that actresses Tracee Ellis Ross and Regina King would be returning as co-hosts for this year’s telecast.
“I love the energy, wittiness, and spirit of sisterhood that [Tracee and Regina] bring,” said Black Girls Rock! founder Beverly Bond in a press statement. “They embody the essence of womanhood and I am so grateful for their continued support and presence on the show.”
Black Girls Rock was created by Bond to spotlight the achievements of exceptional African-American women while inspiring the next generation of female leaders. Past honorees include Kerry Washington, Taraji P. Henson, Dionne Warwick, Susan Taylor and Alicia Keys.
Reportedly, the show is being taped in its new home, the New Jersey Performing Arts Center on Saturday, October 26.
“BET Networks is proud to team up with Black Girls Rock to inspire all women of color to take charge of their image, dignity and impact on the world,” BET executive producer Constance Orlando said. “Our move to NJPAC will empower us to bring our message … to an even larger diverse audience.”
