‘The Soul Man’ returns for a second season

Cedric the Entertainer’s family sitcom, The Soul Man  will be returning to TV Land for a second season.

The comedic actor confirmed the news via Twitter that the Hot In Cleveland  spinoff was renewed. “Just got word The Soul Man has been picked up for season #2,” Cedric tweeted Tuesday night. “Thank all of you who wrote in and/or just watched me and Niecy Nash bout to Turn Up!”

Cedric plays a former R&B singer turned minister named Boyce Ballantine, who moves his entire family to St. Louis after taking over his father’s church. The show also stars Wesley Jonathan, Jazz Raycole and Niecy Nash as Cedric’s non-traditional first lady.

Look for Cedric to host The Soul Train Awards  for the second year in a row. The show which was taped in Las Vegas airs on November 25 at 8pm and features performances by Fantasia, John Legend, 2 Chainz, Keyshia Cole and more.
