Award-winning entertainer Janelle Monáe will be appearing in the upcoming Harriet Tubman biopic starring Broadway diva Cynthia Erivo.

According to S&A, the Dirty Computer singer is joining the production which begins filming this month in Virginia.

Monae joins previously announced actors Leslie Odom Jr., Joe Alwyn, Jennifer Nettles, Clark Peters, Vanessa Bell Calloway, Zackerty Momoh, Deborah Ayorinde and Vondie Curtis-Hall.

Harriet follows Tubman on her escape from slavery and subsequent missions to free dozens of slaves through the Underground Railroad in the face of growing pre-Civil War adversity. The project is directed by Kasi Lemmons
