ESSENCE is reporting that Grammy winning songstress—SADE—is currently working on new music for an upcoming album.

Stuart Matthewman, one of her original band members and collaborator, reportedly spilled the beans during an interview with Rate R&B where he revealed the “Smooth Operator” was back in the studio.

“We’re working on a new album,” Matthewman said, noting the group has “a bunch of songs” fans will love.  Matthewman added, “[Sade’s] not interested in the fame or any of that [other] stuff. She likes to put out art. So when it’s ready, it will come out.”

It’s been eight years since her last project, Soldier of Love.

Sade did tease us earlier this year with the tune, “Flower of the Universe,” which she wrote for Ava DuVernay‘s epic film, A Wrinkle in Time.

If you haven’t had a chance to see her in concert, you’re missing out. It’s everything you think it would be and then some.
