O-M-G!

I had the unique pleasure of interviewing the G.O.A.T of filmmaking—SPIKE LEE—this past Friday (February 9) for a future edition of my radio show, UPFRONT.

The award-winning director, actor, producer and cinema legend was in town to promote the 30th Anniversary Screening of his film, School Daze, which is taking place on Monday, February 19 at the Fabulous Fox Theatre.

Mr. Lee stopped by the WCLK 91.9 studios to chat with me about the event and his iconic musical that originally debuted in theatres on February 12, 1988. School Daze is arguably one of the best films on HBCU life and culture and is centered on a battle between the “Wannabees” and “Jigaboos” during homecoming weekend. The film also touches on the taboo subjects of colorism and beauty standards within the Black community and features an all-star cast including Larry Fishburne, Giancarlo Esposito, Tisha Campbell-Martin, Jasmine Guy, Kadeem Hardison, Darryl M. Bell and the late Bill Nunn, Ossie Davis and Phyllis Hyman

Please tune in on Saturday, February 17 for a special edition of my show which will feature our conversation, music from the film and unforgettable scenes.
