CONGRATS to the cast of Showtime’s breakout series “The Chi!” The 30-minute drama has been renewed for a second season after only four episodes.
The project is the brainchild of Emmy winning writer, producer and actress Lena Waithe and is executive produced by Oscar winning hip hop star Common.
“The Chi” stars Jason Mitchell, Jacob Latimore, Yolonda Ross, Tiffany Boone and focuses on the fateful turn of events that send shockwaves through a Southside Chicago community. The series also features Sonja Sohn, Alex R. Hibbert and Ntare Mwine. It is executive produced by Elwood Reid and Aaron Kaplan with Rick Famuyiwa onboard as a director and executive producer.
In addition to the season renewal, “The Chi” will also receive a new show runner—Ayanna Floyd Davis. She was preceded by Elwood Reed.
I got a chance to interview Chi cast members Ross, Latimore and Boone this week for SCAD’s “aTVfest” and will air that footage on a future edition of my radio show #UPFRONT and on YouTube.
