Veteran actor Morgan Freeman was honored with the coveted Lifetime Achievement Award during Sunday night’s Screen Actors Guild Awards.

The Oscar-winning actor was recognized for his outstanding film and television accomplishments and for being “one of the most recognizable figures in America cinema.” He has appeared in over 83 films including such classics as “Lean On Me,” “Driving Miss Daisy,” “Million Dollar Baby,” “The Shawshank Redemption,” “Invictus” and “Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves.”

Morgan is the recipient of the Golden Globes’ Cecil B. deMille Award and a Kennedy Center honoree. He is also a Tony Award nominee and an Obie Award winner for his work on Broadway.

“This is beyond honor. This is a place in history,” said Freeman.
