The nominations for the “90th Academy Awards” were just announced by actors Tiffany Haddish and Andy Serkis and we are so excited for Mary J. Blige, Jordan Peele, Octavia Spencer, Daniel Kaluuya and Denzel Washington.

Blige and Spencer will go toe-to-toe in the category for “Best Supporting Actress” for their roles in “Mudbound” and “The Shape of Water.” Blige’s “Mighty River” is also nominated for “Best Original Song,” along with co-writers Raphael Saadiq and Taura Stinson.

Washington and Kaluuya will compete for “Best Actor in a Leading Role” for their work in “Get Out” and “Roman J. Israel, Esq.” while Peele is up for three awards including “Best Director,” “Best Picture,” and “Best Original Screenplay.” Mudbound‘s Dee Rees is also up for an award in the category for “Best Adapted Screenplay” along with Virgil Williams.

Oscar winning rapper Common is also up for an award along with Diane Warren for “Best Original Song,” for their inspirational tune “Stand Up for Something” which appeared in the film “Marshall.”
