NAACP Image Award winning actor Michael B. Jordan will finally begin shooting for the upcoming film adaptation of the book, Just Mercy, beginning at the top of 2018. The story follows the life of civil rights defense attorney and Equal Justice Initiative founder—Bryan Stevenson.
In 2015, we reported that Jordan was bringing Stevenson’s story to the big screen along with Destin Daniel Cretton as the director. “Just Mercy” follows the true story of Stevenson, whose legal practice is dedicated to defending the poor, the wrongly condemned and women and children. One of his first cases was that of Walter McMillian, a young man who was sentenced to die for a notorious murder he insisted he didn’t commit. The case drew Stevenson into a tangle of conspiracy and political machination that transformed his understanding of mercy and justice forever.
RC will keep you posted as this project continues to develop.
Look for Jordan to also appear in “Black Panther” and “Creed 2.”
