Check out the new trailer for the upcoming film “I, Tonya” starring Margot Robbie as former U.S. Figure Skating Champion Tonya Harding. The film opens in theaters nationwide on December 8.
The movie takes a look at Harding’s turbulent rise to prominence as a child figure skating star in the early 80s and later Olympic Champion in the early 90s. Harding was banned for life from the U.S. Figure Skating Association after pleading guilty to hindering the prosecution following the attack on fellow skater and her biggest competition—Nancy Kerrigan. Harding’s ex-husband Jeff Gillooly, and her bodyguard, Shawn Eckhardt, hired Shane Stant to break Kerrigan’s right leg with a baton so that she would be unable to compete at the 1994 Winter Olympics. “I, Tonya” also stars Sebastian Stan, Allison Janney, Paul Walter Houser and Caitlin Carver. I also know that some scenes of the film were shot here in Atlanta, GA as I promoted auditions for it during the “Casting Buzz” segment of my radio show #UPFRONT. Can’t wait to see it!
