The queen of MOTOWN—Diana Ross—took center stage this week during the “American Music Awards” telecast. The living legend was honored with this year’s Lifetime Achievement Award and performed a medley of some of her biggest hits including the LGBTQ anthem “I’m Coming Out,” Take Me Higher” and the “Best Years of My Life.” She took us down memory lane by performing “Ease on Down the Road” from her 1978 classic film, “The Wiz,” where she starred as Dorothy opposite Michael Jackson‘s Scarecrow.

Miss Ross closed out with her favorite tune, “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough,” which was also her first No. 1 song as a solo artist. She was introduced by her son Evan Ross and was presented her award by her daughter Rhonda Ross Kendrick. Her other children were there including Tracee Ellis Ross, who hosted the show. Others in attendance included Motown founder Berry Gordy and music icon Smokey Robinson. She was also surrounded by her grandchildren who were just as energetic and lively as she was.

“This is all about love, This is my family and I’m sending love out there to each and everyone one of you—our global family. I’m so humbled. I love you so very much and I think you know that. I really, really love you so very much and I will hold onto this beautiful honor. Thank you,” said Ross during her acceptance speech.

Miss Ross is an icon no doubt about it and anyone who knows me will tell you I am her BIGGEST fan. But even if I weren’t, she has proven time and time again why she was inducted into The Guinness Book of World Records as the “best-selling female singer in history” in 1993. Her fashion, style, radiant beauty and musical influence has been emulated all around the world and is clearly seen in many of today’s top female artists like Beyoncé, Mariah Carey, Rihanna, Janet Jackson, Madonna, Mary J. Blige, Alicia Keys, Jennifer Lopez and Taylor Swift. Miss Ross is the very foundation upon which many of them stand and owe a great deal of their success to.

CONGRATS MISS ROSS!!!!
