Legendary Grammy® and America Music Award winning recording artist, songstress and Broadway actress, Stephanie Mills, stopped by Atlanta’s Premier Academy this week to read to the students and share some uplifting words. About twenty of the academy’s students remained captivated by the singer as she read Peter’s Chair by the Caledcott Medal-winning author, Ezra Jack Keats. She also performed the song, “Be A Lion” after reading the book.

Mills remains excited about her career and upcoming projects such as the recently formed, Luv Your Worth. It’s a nonprofit which seeks to help “bring the worth of the family back” within black families in the United States.

Mills is best known for originating the role of ‘Dorothy’ in the seven-time Tony Award-winning Broadway production of “The Wiz.” She has also enjoyed an illustrious recording career that includes 12 No. 1 Billboard R&B Singles and five bestselling albums.  The City of Atlanta most recently honored her with “Stephanie Mills Day” and a proclamation on September 29.

Way to go Ms. Mills!
