The blessings just keep on coming in for BET Humanitarian Award honoree Chance The Rapper. According to a tweet posted by Russell Simmons, he and the Grammy winning rapper are currently in negotiations for him to host a reboot of the hugely popular HBO series “Def Poetry Jam.”
“Super excited. Been in negotiation with @chancetherapper to host Def poetry jam for HBO. !!!! Would u guys like to see that #Emmys”
According to S&A, the show would be called “All Def Poetry” and would have the same flavor the original series had during its run from 2002-2007.
“Def Poetry Jam” was actually an extension of Simmon’s “Def Comedy Jam” and featured some of the country’s most prolific spoken word and musical artists. It paved the way for other shows of its ilk like TV One’s “Lexus Verses and Flow.” This would be a good look for the rapper and definitely another way for HBO to connect with Millennials.
Would you watch a reboot of “Def Poetry Jam”?
