Check out this morning’s edition of #UPFRONT Inside Atlanta’s Entertainment Industry. This week’s show featured hip hop icon and pioneer MC Lyte. She was on the campus of Clark Atlanta University this week to help Chevrolet and the National Newspaper Publishers Association (NNPA) select journalism students for scholarships through the “Discover The Unexpected” Fellowship Program.

Gospel music superstars David and Tamela Mann talked about their new TV One docu-series, “The Manns.” The show airs on Tuesday nights and is part of the network’s new lineup of family programming. Tamela also opened up about her performance at this year’s Grammy Awards with Chance the Rapper and what the family has planned for the Easter holiday.

Award winning-playwright and actress Nambi E. Kelley discussed her new adaptation of the Richard Wright classic, Native Son, that is coming to Marietta’s New Theatre in the Square April 20-May 7. She chatted about how the Travyon Martin trial changed the trajectory of her production. She also opened up about mounting a new theatrical version of Toni Morrison‘s JAZZ and starring in NBC’s “Chicago Justice.”

Closing out the show was “Sunday Best” Season 6 Winner Tasha Page-Lockhart. She has just released a new book titled, And the Winner Is…and opens up about overcoming drug addiction, child molestation and homelessness. This is a powerful segment you don’t want to miss!
