Gregory Porter & Kandace Springs to appear at Cobb Energy 6/23

Grammy winning jazz vocalist Gregory Porter is coming to Atlanta’s Cobb Energy Centre and we are uberly excited! Porter is one of the music genre’s leading male vocalist and has thrilled audiences from around the world with his velvet vocals and magnetic presence. His latest album, Take Me to the Alley won a Grammy Award this year for Best Jazz Vocal Album.  The show will take place during Black Music Month on Friday, June 23 at 8 p.m. and is being presented in celebration of Jazz 91.9 WCLK’s 43rd Anniversary.

“WCLK” is Atlanta’s only jazz station and has continued to leverage the legacy of jazz and soul music for over four decades now. The fundraising concert is one of two shows that are presented each year to help raise funds for the station that broadcasts 24/7 from historic Clark Atlanta University.

Joining  Porter on stage will also be Nashville music sensation Kandace Springs. The twenty-something-year-old vocalist and pianist is one of the newest talents to hit the jazz scene and has been compared to likes of such music greats as Billie Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald, Nina Simone and Roberta Flack. She has also appeared on “Jimmy Kimmel Live,” “The Late Show” and performed for Prince during the 30th Anniversary Celebration of “Purple Rain.”
