Grammy nominated rap icon, Da Brat hosted an exclusive listening party Tuesday evening for her new hip hop artist, Cornbread. The event was held at Mass Appeal Clothing Boutique in Buckhead and was attended by a number of industry influencers, tastemakers and hip hop enthusiasts.
Cornbread is a 21-year-old artist from Da Brat’s hometown of Chicago and was spotted by the reality star on Instagram. She was so impressed with style and positive lyrics that she sent him a direct message and the rest, as they say, is history. If you’re a fan of the TV One docus-series, “Rickey Smiley for Real,” who may have seen her working with him and creating new music for his upcoming project, Trust the Process.
Prior to his music career, Cornbread starred on the popular YouTube series, Reawakening. It was during that time, that he was given his unique name and decided that he wanted to pursue a career in music. His first release was titled, ‘Turn Up” and it garnered him some attention on YouTube and social media. Since that first single, he has released the popular tune “RokkIt” and the club banger, “Be Jordan,” which pays homage to NBA icon and former Chicago Bulls star—Michael Jordan.
Atlanta notables that were spotted at the party included “Braxton Family Values” star Trina Braxton, Dish Nation star HeadKrack and “The Catch” actor Maurice Johnson.
