Congrats to When We Rise star Michael K. Williams. The versatile actor will join Donald Glover in the untitled Han Solo movie that is set to debut on May 25, 2018. According to StarWars.com, Williams is “going from his hometown of Brooklyn, New York, to a galaxy far, far away.”
“StarWars.com is thrilled to announce that Williams has officially signed on for the upcoming untitled Han Solo Star Wars movie. Williams comes to Star Wars having played many memorable roles in both TV and film, including Omar Little in The Wire and Albert ‘Chalky’ White in Boardwalk Empire, bringing charisma, humanity, and nobility to all his performances.”
As previously reported, the project will feature Alden Ehrenreich as Captain Solo and Glover as a young Lando Calrissian, a scoundrel on the rise in the galaxy’s underworld long before he got involved with Solo, Princess Leia and Darth Vader.
The film is directed by Phil Lord and Christopher Miller and also features Woody Harrelson, Emilia Clarke, Thandie Newton, Phoebe Waller-Bridge and Joonas Suotamo as Chewbacca.
Williams is currently filming The Public with Jeffrey Wright, Gabrielle Union, Richard T. Jones and Jacob Vargas.
