The life and career of drag superstar RuPaul is coming to a small screen. According to DEADLINE, the award-winning performer is teaming up with JJ Abraham‘s Bad Robot and his long time partners at World of Wonder for a half-hour dramedy based on his life as a 1980s club kid in New York City. The series is reportedly by being written by “Power” executive Gary Lennon and will be executive produced by RuPaul himself. No word yet on the network that will carry the series.
In other related news, look for Wendy Williams to kick off the ninth season of ‘RuPaul’s Drag Race” this Friday, March 24 at beginning at 5:30 p.m. with a live viewing party. The queen of daytime television is teaming up with judge Ross Mathews each Friday for live viewing parties that lead into new episodes each week. According to the press release, Williams and Mathews will “dish on the season nine queens throughout the night, welcome surprise guests and react in-real time to the gag-worthy new season.” (This should be hilarious!!)
RC will keep you posted on Ru’s new series as it continues to develop.
